VeryCoolIdeas has during 2014 provided the SAQA accredited and NQA recognised Certificate course in Occupationally Directed Education Training and Development practice for 2 intakes in Namibia, consisting of agriculture trainers (1st intake) and mixed trainers (2nd intake ). In total a number of 73 trainers from both public and private training providers was trained.

Upon the successful graduation of these learners, a further intake of 40 trainers for the Certificate in ODETD, and an intake of 20 selected candidates for the Diploma course in OD-ETD has been scheduled to commence in March 2015. The applications of these learners were all received based on word-of-mouth recommendations from previous learners.

As the contracting organisation, backed up by the feedback from the 2014 OD-ETD graduates, we were very satisfied with the quality and the suitability of the VCI training and assessment materials, the learner support provided, and the quality and experience of VCI facilitators, assessors and moderators. Despite the course being originally developed for the South African context, materials and delivery were adapted for the Namibian context, and to the specific target groups, contrary to previous experiences with some other South African training providers.

The overall project management including planning, reporting and administration duties and execution of the projects was excellent: after each training module full individual and group reports were provided, with challenges and remedial action proposed and taken being reported on. Issues raised were within one or two working days addressed, and the course management was at all times available to discuss problems, improvements etc. Administrative procedures were transparent, could be tracked at any time, and were meeting high standards of accuracy. The learners’ certificates from VCI were delivered well in time for the graduation ceremonies, while the formal handover of certificates of learners’ qualifications through the ETP SETA was arranged and delivered within 6 weeks of completion of the course, breaking any standing
record.

As an extra service VCI has on different occasions and on different topics been available and committed to discuss future strategies for training of trainers in Namibia and given us valuable input in that regard.

We therefore decided to continue sourcing the training and related services from VCI, as high quality and integrity is guaranteed. We do not hesitate to recommend VCI services to whoever may be interested to source these.
